Palworld Thoughts

Well it is 2024 already and the game of the moment is Palworld, described by many as “Pokemon with guns”.

Although not my type of game, I can see how it has become popular.

For the people dreaming of a better Pokemon game, this might be as close to that fantasy for the time being and it might be the wake up call to Nintendo that modern graphics matter.

Billed as a survival game, the ability to utilise the creatures you catch and establish a base with them working for you is a great concept.

One of the biggest talking points from the release of the game has been the design element a number of Palworld’s creatures have to some Pokemon, although I am not going to dive too deep in this discussion as there have been many to have already done so.

I think this will be used as a case study in the gaming industry moving forward but for now it is being enjoyed by millions of people.

My belief is that this will see more developers take chances with taking inspiration from other games and potentially having more blended elements to create new game subgenres.

I will end with I have no intentions to play this as it is not my type of games but it seems millions have found enjoyment in this game and it seems to be the game of the moment, it will be interesting to see for how long.
