Lighthaze World DEMO

By Drawza

This is a game that was showcased at The Game Expo (TGX) in Melbourne and a demo is currently available on steam, see the button at the end of this article to check it out.

The short version of my thoughts from TGX was Lighthaze World presents itself as a laid back, cosy puzzle game with no urgency and if you get stuck on a puzzle it will always be solvable, no need to restart.

The story takes place in a local shopping mall, Lighthaze World.

You play as Nym, a guy with anxiety (relatable) just trying to navigate his way to buy food for his dog, Chewie (also somewhat relatable).

Events lead to Nym finding himself in a world that he has created to cope with the anxiety, filled with puzzles and the adventure to get the dog food for Chewie.

With the demo a game in itself, labelled as a prequel to the main game that is to come, this demo definitely left me wanting to play more.

Something I love with the design of Lighthaze World is the fact it has drawn inspiration from Tasmanian locations, something that was highlighted at TGX.

One of these places is Cataract Gorge Reserve, this was detailed by one of the developers on their Youtube channel and the demo also has a nod to the Spirit of Tasmania, something that made me laugh when I first saw it.

Playing the demo at home made me realise I missed an important element of the game, being the soundtrack, which added to another dynamic to the game, something that made playing Lighthaze World more laid back, it felt the was no rush to get to the end.

Developed in Tasmania, Australia by Radiobush.
